Optimal infection control practices have been a key aspect of dental professionals’ education and until the late ‘80s was not regulated or monitored by outside entities. Today infection control protocols and practices are impacted by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state licensing boards. Additionally, the World Health Organization (WHO) provides resources regarding infection prevention worldwide. Together these entities provide the foundation for sound infection control practices that will protect both dental professionals as well as dental patients. This CE webinar will provide attendees a foundation and understanding of what each bring to infection prevention in the dental environment. Defining the roles of each entity/agency will provide dental practices methods to develop and maintain optimal infection control protocols, practices and mandates.
